Funeral Readings

Funeral Readings

Category : Uncategorised

There are a vast amount of readings that people have at funerals. From Biblical scripture, to song lyrics, to poetry, to film quotes, as funerals become ever more individual, you really can have something that means something to you read out when people gather to say goodbye.

If you’re looking for inspiration, Stylist has put together an article containing over 20 possible funeral readings. These include Charlotte’s Web, Roald Dahl, Winnie The Pooh, Shakespeare & many more.

One of our favourites which isn’t on the list is a Charles Dickins passage from A Tale Of Two Cities, which was used towards the end of The Dark Knight Rises.

“I see a beautiful city and a brilliant people rising from this abyss. I see the lives for which I lay down my life, peaceful, useful, prosperous and happy. I see that I hold a sanctuary in their hearts, and in the hearts of their descendants, generations hence. It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”
